Lia Ursich
Some people stumble into their calling, but Lia walked straight towards hers.
After working in childcare for a few years and doing plenty of babysitting, she kept seeing the same problem play out for families. Parents needed trusted, flexible, in-home care, yet they simply weren’t getting it. The options felt impersonal, and the process was transactional, so families were treated like bookings, not people.
So in 2005, she decided to build something better.
Babysitters on Demand was founded on a simple, non-negotiable belief: every Perth family deserves care that genuinely feels like care. Not a tick-box service. Not a stranger from an app. Instead, real relationships with real people who actually care about your children.
Over more than twenty years, running Babysitters on Demand has shaped Lia into something rare. Everything she knows about business has been built through doing it, learning it, and improving it. Because of this, the standard has never dropped.

Before any carer meets a family, they go through our full vetting process. This includes a detailed application review, a personal interview with our founder and HR associate, and police clearance and criminal record checks.
We also confirm Working With Children Checks, First Aid certification, and complete thorough reference checks. If anything raises concerns, we don’t move forward, because maintaining our standards matters.

Because of this, our recruitment process focuses on finding people who go beyond the basics. If someone doesn’t meet the standard, they don’t join the team, so families always receive the level of care they expect.

Working With Children Check
All carers hold a valid Working With Children Check, and we verify this before every placement. Because of this, families can feel confident that all requirements are met.
18+ Years of Age
All carers are 18 or older, which brings maturity, responsibility, and a genuine commitment to the families they support.
First Aid Certified
Every carer is First Aid certified, so they are prepared, trained, and ready to respond calmly in any situation.

Every carer goes through a rigourous multi-step process including a personal interview with our team, police clearance, Working with Children Check, First Aid Certification, and reference checking. We don’t just verifty wqualifications, we assess warmth, character, and genuine suitability for working with children. If a carer doesn’t meet our standards, they don’t join our team!

How quickly can care be arranged?
We aim to confirm bookings within 24-48 busines hours of your enquiry. Please note we are not taking last minute/urgent bookings at this stage unless we have a pre-arranged agreement in place.
